The International Applied Chess Society informs you that on February 22, 2025 (Saturday) from 15:00 - 19:30 CET /16.00 – 20.30 ЕЕT an online conference on "Researching Social Chess" will be held. The event is organized by the World Chess Organization - FIDE.
The aim of the event is to bring together researchers, educators, practitioners and chess enthusiasts to explore how chess contributes to improving the quality of life, promoting social development, inclusion, empowerment and rehabilitation.

16:30 - 18:30 - Presentations of studies and case studies - 25 minutes each + 5 minutes of questions and answers
19:00 - 19:30 - Individual sessions - in this panel participants can join different virtual rooms, each representing one of the social chess projects:
- Chess for Freedom: exploring the impact of chess on prisoners, promoting rehabilitation, critical thinking and a sense of purpose;
- Protection chess: support for refugees and vulnerable groups, providing stability, focus and hope in difficult circumstances;
- Chess for Recovery : exploring the role of chess in aiding recovery from addiction and chronic illness, including cancer;
- Infinite Chess: empowering children with autism spectrum disorder, improving cognitive and social skills;
- Longevity chess: promoting the mental and emotional well-being of older adults, combating memory loss and promoting active aging.
- Chess for Change and Hope: Bringing positive change to underserved communities, including slum children, orphans and marginalized groups.
In these sessions, scientific and operational issues can be raised and discussed among participants. Moderators will be responsible for documenting the discussion and presenting a summary in the main session after the rooms close.
